5 oz Aztec Calendar Silver Round .999 Fine
There is probably no more famous precolumbian sculpture from Mexico than the Aztec calendar. The so-called "Piedra del Sol", which attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year to the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City, has become one of the great symbols for the extraordinary achievements of the indigenous high cultures of Mexico. In numismatic circles, the motif received the greatest attention due to the kilo-heavy special coins of the Casa de Moneda de México. Here you now have the unique opportunity to purchase the famous motif in smaller denominations at a significantly lower price. On the motif side you can see the majestic stone of the sun with its three concentric and illustrated rings The reverse shows an idealized portrait of the last Aztec ruler of Tenochtitlán, Cuauhtémoc, who is still very revered in Mexico today. The fineness (999 silver), anyway the weight (5 ounces) can also be seen here. The whole thing is surrounded by a jagged sickness that is reminiscent of traditional Aztec motifs.
